What is Dry Eye?

Dry Eye Syndrome occurs when the normal flow of tears over the eyes is interrupted, or the tear film is abnormal. This can cause extreme discomfort and will adversely affect your vision and daily activities.


Common causes may include advancing age, hormonal changes, health status such as diabetes, arthritis, thyroid dysfunction, chemotherapy or radiation treatments, menopause, genetics, contact lens use, computer use, certain medications, patients that had lasik surgery, diet, allergies, environmental circumstances, acne and rosacea.
